The United States Capitol tells a thousand stories, each from a profoundly different angle.

I grew up about 40 minutes north of our nation’s capital, but I always took that proximity for granted… That is, until my wife and I moved to the city in 2014.

I spent a total of four years in Southwest DC: biking to work, cheering on our Nationals, walking the dog at all hours of the night, and of course taking the camera out for many a nighttime monuments tour. I cherish the evenings I would cross the National Mall on my walk home from work, the weekend mornings we’d play outdoor ping pong at Yards Park, and of course the view of the baseball stadium from our living room window.

Now, we’re not more than a few dozen miles into Virginia; nevertheless I am grateful for the city that has aided me in my pursuit of self-taught photography.
