There’s a reason they call it “the Pearl of Africa.”
Uganda’s extraordinary wildlife is second only to the hospitality of its people.
Perhaps this hospitality stems from the fact that tourism comprises such a substantial portion of Uganda’s GDP; maybe it’s simply the humility of people who have so little. Regardless, I have never observed anything quite like the length Ugandans will go to ensure that their guests are comfortable.
As for our safari experience, Uganda is one of three countries where one can still view gorillas in their natural habitat; Uganda is also the only place on Earth where one can witness a unique and unexplained phenomenon: tree-climbing lions. Lucky for us, we saw it all: gorillas, lions, hippos, elephants, monkeys, warthogs, antelope, and even a leopard. The list goes on.
Our safari adventure began in Mweya, continued in Ishasha, and concluded in Bwindi. The following photos were taken over five days, six game drives, and a trek through Bwindi’s Impenetrable National Forest.
